HD ready is a label _you’ve probably seen in various pieces of video equipment such as TVs or DVD players. If you intend to buy the video equipment of any kind, you must be familiar with HD and HD ready, so you can make choices as consumers.

The label “HD ready” refers to the product’s ability to handle high-definition (HD). HD DVD is a standard video resolutions higher than those supported by old rules. A display system must support video resolutions 720-1080 vertical lines to be considered compatible HD.

To view the content of high-definition video, you need a display capable of handling high-resolution video. These include most computer monitors, televisions and projectors many modern cinema. When you buy a display, especially in the case of television, one must be careful to choose one that supports HD video.

There are different labels used in high-definition compatible video equipment, depending on how the product supports. Simply means ‘HD ready’, at least the minimum resolution of 720 vertical lines is supported, while the Full HD and HD 1080 both refer to the resolution of 1080 vertical lines, which is the maximum supported standard. High definition video is typically an aspect ratio of 16:9, although 4:3 is sometimes used.

Sometimes additional information is included. The letters P ‘or’ i ‘refers to progressive scan or non-progressive mode, respectively. A slash followed by a number indicates the refresh rate. Therefore, 720p/60 means that a piece of equipment supports resolution of 720 vertical lines in the video sequence with a frequency of 60 frames per second. This is a video mode common in LCD.

In addition to the display, the source must be compatible HDTV. This means that to watch movies on HD DVD player must also be compatible HD. Similarly, to enjoy the benefits of HDTV, the TV should be in high definition (HDTV).

For a good video, all elements must be able to handle high-definition video. This includes not only the player above the disk and display units, but all the connections used between them. The source of the media also must of course be in a format HD. Even the material mode, so for the best effect possible, all parts of the system must support full HD.
