VGA is an analog signal.  HDMI requires a digital DVI video signal to work.

The DVI-to-VGA adapter cannot be used that way.  It only works for connecting a graphics card DVI-I port to a VGA monitor, because a DVI-I output also sends out a VGA signal.</description>
