Clarification On Different Series Of Sony Hdtv?

I’m on the market to buy a new HDTV. I’ve been admiring a 46″ Sony Bravia HDTV, but the problem that I’m having is that there are different series of Sony TV’s. Can anyone clarify the different series of TV’s and which one you would recommend to me. I just don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money. Thank you.

  1. Uncle Pennybags says:

    V2500 = Basic
    V3000 =V3000 with an extra bell and whistle or two.
    W3000= more bells and whistles + uglier design.
    XBR4 = W3000 + 120Hz screen refresh + different ugly design.
    XBR5 = XBR4 + LED backlighting
    Bells and whistles are things like PIP or an extra HDMI port. Things I don’t need or couldn’t care less about and not really bringing anything important to the picture or sound.
    The best way is to go to the Sony site and click on the sets you are interested in and then click compare. There you will see a side by side comparison of each sets features and differences.
    Interestingly, I was recently looking at buying an LCD and would have gone with a Sony V3000, except they didn’t offer it in a 52″ size, so I went with a competitor as the W3000 and XBRs in that size were too expensive and just plain ugly looking.
