Best TV I’ve ever purchased… speedy delivery service and best price

The delivery of my Samsung LN40B650 was excellent (much sooner than expected), and the cost of this product was more than reasonable. Thus far, I’m very happy with my

purchase. The TV has great features (e.g., 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 4ms response time, 120Hz auto-motion plus, and wireless DLNA capabilities). The design is elegant and quite appealing, but most of all,

the TV’s outstanding performance is what I like the most…. The picture quality is phenomenal; it’s as if I am watching a live event through a wide-open window. The TV’s

well-arranged and consumer-friendly remote control unit allows for all the buttons on the remote to become illuminated, if needed. I highly recommend this HDTV, and am glad I bought it from Amazon.com.

Best TV for the price
I am a believer in the idea that the best price for technology is found just short of the latest version of a product on the market. This Samsung has a great picture without the advanced edge of technology such as LED technology. It also offers a great added feature that I did not know was there until the set arrived. You can attach a USB flash drive to the Samsung and view your latest jpeg digital pictures in full high definition. This feature alone is worth selecting this set over others in the same catagory and price range. There also is the ability to connect the set to an ethernet connection to Yahoo!, Flickr, YouTube, but I did not use this feature.

Others have commented that the sound quality is deficient, but I connected the set to an AV receiver and bypass the internal speakers.

Overall, I am very pleased with this TV.

Perfect and works excellent with my MacBook Pro

T.V. just arrived today and works perfect. I hooked this baby up with my MacBook Pro unibody enclosure (oct. 2008) using a

MonoPrice’s Mini Display Port to HDMI Adapter and a HDMI cable. Video image is AWESOME, sound quality great and CEVA

was just perfect. Menu and rest of the controls are easy as pie and I love the minimalistic design Samsung put on this set.

I did several weeks of research before buying and yes it’s true: price is just fair for all the things this t.v. can do (I already did several test).

It was pretty hard to convinced my wife but, after watching “Devil Wears Prada” on the t.v., everything went o.k. Take note.

Sony’s best lcd tv, until LED comes out!

I am still evaluating this LCD TV, this would be a perfect TV, if it only have had LED back-light technology, I can’t believe this TV, with

so many innovations, such 240Hz motion flow, Internet connectivity, Great picture, etc, is still using Fluorescent lamps, the price

should pump out the LED local dimming technology, that would take this TV to the very top, I hope the next new line of LCD TV

from Sony, will use newer technologies accordingly, In a dark room, you are watching fluorescent Lamps, not a movie,

and picture looks grey, not black, I had other TVs with LED technology, the downside is the shiny Clear Panel, and it is annoying, but

the blacks are deeper, we need a TV with LED backlight and a NO Shiny screen, anyhow, the Sony XBR9 is a serious High End TV.

A great TV
Terrific picture, especially on the HDTV channels. Controls, etc., are straightforward and intuitive. Sound is just a tad softer than I’d prefer, but it’s not bad. Could easily hook a secondary sound system to it, but haven’t bothered. My previous TV, an Olevia 32", was the same width, but with side-by speakers it lost a full 8" of screen size. The Bravia is exactly the same width, only a couple of inches taller, and delivers a 25% larger screen. The 240hz upgrade is definitely noticeable. If you’re on HD, it’s the only way to fly. Plan to hook it to my laptop and take advantage of online TV-movie selections. This set also connects to the Internet, if you have the correct cables or signal devices. That’s on the agenda, too.

Don’t fear the delivery service, my experience was excellent: They arrived when promised, brought it upstairs, unpacked it, hooked it up, and carted away all the trash. Buying via Amazon beats going to a big-box store and having to do all that yourself — and the price I paid was more than $200 *below* my local big-box store for the same TV. Free delivery, too. Couldn’t be happier.

Excellent TV

My original review of the TV was negative due to a problem of dimming during dark scenes. But few days ago Sony released a software patch to correct the problem and it worked for me. Now, the auto dimming can be turned off by setting the "Adv. Contrast Enhancer" to Off. Also, even when it’s turned On, it doesn’t behave like it did pre- patch, it now dims gradually rather than abruptly and it doesn’t dim as much as it did before. Thank you very much Sony, I’m updating my rating to 5-star.

I’m very happy with the TV now that the auto dim is fixed. If you own the TV and having problems with the dimming, go to the support section of Sony’s site to download the patch and the instructions on how to apply it. You will need a USB thumb drive formatted in FAT32, but if you don’t have it, Sony will mail you one if you call their customer support.
